It's a question as old as time itself: which is better, the zombie or the unicorn? In this anthology, edited by Holly Black and Justine Larbalestier (unicorn and zombie, respectively), strong arguments are made for both sides in the form of short stories. Half of the stories portray the strengths—for good and evil—of unicorns and half show the good (and really, really bad-ass) side of zombies. Contributors include many bestselling teen authors, including Cassandra Clare, Libba Bray, Maureen Johnson, Meg Cabot, Scott Westerfeld, and Margo Lanagan. This anthology will have everyone asking: Team Zombie or Team Unicorn?
This book is old news to a lot of you, but that doesn’t make it any less awesome. I actually got it in 2010 for Christmas…and promptly misplaced it until this weekend. I read it all in one night and loved it! There’s something for everyone in here, whether you love zombies, unicorns, or both.
I’m a zombie girl and my two favorite stories are:
Bourgainvillea by Carrie Ryan
The Children of the Revolution by Maureen Johnson
If you haven’t read this one, pick it up. If you have, what were your favorite stories?
A zombie apocolypse is one of my biggest fears. Which is funny since The Walking Dead is one of my fave shows, I guess I want to prepare myself. I've wanted to read this for a while, I'll pick it up ASAP.
ReplyDeleteI love the Walking Dead. I'm reading the graphic novels now and I've had many way too in depth conversations with my friends about what we would do in a zombie apocalypse :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a Unicorn girl all the way! Not heard of this book but will add it to my mountain of TBR books. Congrats on your book deal - how exciting - but such a long time to wait. Thanks for visiting my blog and I shall look forward to reading more of yours.
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire! There's plenty of unicorn goodness in this book too, and one of the stories even has a zombie in it. :)
ReplyDeleteI saw this in the library the other day and I was mystified. I might pick it up now!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this, but it sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteMy 11-year old son just spotted the Zombies vs. Unicorns cover and got all excited. Apparently, EVERYBODY else has this book and is loving it. So here's to good timing!
ReplyDeleteI've listened to this book...too long ago to remember titles, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteIt's also nice to read a short story collection sometimes...that way if you don't like one it's not that much of a commitment and you can just skip ahead. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this book until now!
